It’s that time of year again, the time where Rockstar Games throws the gaming world into a flutter with its latest release. This year they, along with Team Bondi, have decided to break the mould with their 1940s detective adventure, L.A. Noire. Much has been made of the game’s use of facial technology prior to its release; add Rockstar’s impressive track record with the likes of GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption and expectations were bound to be high. So, let’s don our best fedoras, get our notepads ready and put on some Ella Fitzgerald tunes as we explore L.A. Noire…

GAME REVIEW – Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (PC)

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is an isometric top down shooter developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix. That’s right, in a noticeable departure from the main Tomb Raider series, Guardian of Light is an arcade shooter with multiplayer support! Originally released for Xbox 360, the game was later released for both PlayStation 3 and Steam (PC). Alternative Magazine Online’s review will cover the PC version played with an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows.

Gray Matter Collector’s Edition Unboxing (German Steelbook)

Alternative Magazine Online has covered point-and-click adventure game Gray Matter extensively since its release earlier this year. In my review of the game, I proclaimed it as “one of the finest adventure games I have ever played.” I then went on to interview creator Jane Jensen, as well as soundtrack composer Robert Holmes, before finally catching up with Samantha Everett voice actress Phillipa Alexander! To conclude our coverage of the game, AMO is proud to present an exclusive video unboxing of the German collector’s edition, sent to us by our friends at dtp entertainment all the way from Germany!

GAME REVIEW – Hitman: Blood Money (PC)

Exactly five years ago today (26th May 2006) Danish video game developer IO Interactive released the fourth instalment of their critically acclaimed Hitman series, Hitman: Blood Money. With a fifth instalment (Hitman: Absolution) finally in the works, now seems the perfect time to take a look back at Blood Money with a special retrospective AMO review. Please note: although this review is written specifically for the PC version, the PlayStation 2, Xbox and Xbox 360 versions all feature exactly the same missions and content, with the only difference being their slightly downgraded visuals and gamepad controls.
