The Minims - A New Beginning

The Minims – A New Beginning for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is a point-and-click (point-and-touch?) adventure game created by beyondthosehills studio, a self-described ‘tiny indie development team based in Greece’. The work of a single developer, Andreas Diktyopoulos, an early version of the game appeared in 2013 as a benchmark test. The Minims – A New Beginning is an almost complete reboot with improved story, length, puzzles, graphics and sound. Players take control of Mii, a Minim who must embark on a journey of self-discovery to find his missing life partner, Mo.

GAME REVIEW – The Blackwell Epiphany (PC)

The Blackwell Epiphany is the fifth and final instalment in the Blackwell series of indie point-and-click adventure games from Dave Gilbert and Wadjet Eye Games. Rosangela Blackwell and her spirit guide Joey Mallone (described in AMO’s 2011 review of The Blackwell Deception as “an adventure gaming duo made in heaven”) embark on their final investigation and end up facing their most dangerous foe yet – an unseen force that literally tears souls apart before they can be saved.

GAME REVIEW – Moebius: Empire Rising (PC)

Moebius: Empire Rising is a point-and-click mystery thriller developed by Phoenix Online Studios in collaboration with legendary adventure game designer Jane Jensen’s Pinkerton Road Studio. The story-driven experience focuses on Malachi Rector, ‘a brilliant antiques dealer and historian whose photographic memory and eye for deduction transforms locations and clues into interactive puzzle pieces and historical patterns.’ When Malachi is hired by a secretive government agency to investigate the murder of a woman in Venice, he discovers a powerful paranormal theory that delves far into the past and could well hold the key to the future – Moebius.
