GAME REVIEW – The Dream Machine: Chapter 5 (PC)

The Dream Machine is a point-and-click adventure game handcrafted from clay and cardboard by Cockroach Inc., a two-man independent Swedish game development studio. Following on from Chapters 1-3 (“not only a game about dreams, but a dream come true for adventure gamers”) and Chapter 4 (“inspired point-and-click storytelling from a small indie studio with big ideas and even bigger dreams”), this penultimate chapter sees Victor continuing his quest to save his pregnant wife and defeat The Dream Machine once and for all.

GAME REVIEW – Shardlight (PC)

Shardlight is the latest game from Wadjet Eye Games, publisher of The Blackwell Epiphany, Resonance and Gemini Rue (to name but a few). Another old-school pixel-art point-and-click adventure game (try saying that five times in a row!), Shardlight is set 20 years after a cataclysmic disaster has levelled the city Amy Wellard lives in. She’s now slowly dying of Green Lung, a disease that is wiping out the population at an alarming rate. Vaccine is in short supply, rationed by a totalitarian government that favours the rich… but that won’t stop Amy fighting for her life.

Give No Shelter is the second episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne, a three-part episodic miniseries from Telltale Games (Tales from the Borderlands, Game of Thrones) based on Robert Kirkman’s best-selling comic books. In Episode 2, Michonne, Pete and Sam must run for their lives following a daring escape from the floating colony of Monroe.

Deponia Doomsday is the fourth instalment in the Deponia trilogy developed by Daedalic Entertainment… wait a minute, come again?! That’s right! Following on from Deponia, Chaos on Deponia and Goodbye Deponia, Daedalic has surprised fans of the series around the world by releasing yet another point-and-click adventure game starring Marmite anti-hero Rufus. The ending of Goodbye Deponia (the final game of the original trilogy) seemed pretty definitive (and indeed, divisive) so… how is Goodbye Deponia even possible? Two words: time travel!
