Alternative Magazine Online reviewed The Journey Down: Chapter One – HD (PC) in 2012, describing it as “one of the most essential adventure gaming experiences of the past few years.” Players take control of Bwana, a gas-station owner in a stylised world where everyone has a face like an African mask, as he tries to uncover a sinister plot involving the Armando Power Company and his long-missing father. A port of The Journey Down: Chapter One was recently released on the Apple App Store, offering players the chance to play this fantastic indie point-and-click adventure game on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

BOOK REVIEW – The James Bond Omnibus – Volume 004

The James Bond Omnibus – Volume 004 collects nine original James Bond daily comic strips for the very first time. Published by Titan Books (and originally printed in the Daily Express newspaper between 1971-1975), each comic strip is written by Jim Lawrence and features the black-and-white artwork of Yaroslav Horak. The stories told include: Trouble Spot, Isle of Condors, The League of Vampires, Die With My Boots On, The Girl Machine, Beware of Butterflies, The Nevsky Nude, The Phoenix Project and The Black Ruby Caper.

BOOK REVIEW – Supercrooks: The Heist by Mark Millar and Leinil Yu (Graphic Novel)

Supercrooks: The Heist is a graphic novel written by Mark Millar (Kick-Ass, Wanted) and illustrated Leinil Yu (Superman: Birthright, Secret Invasion). Alternative Magazine Online described their first collaboration, Superior, as “one of 2012′s most enjoyable graphic novels”. Their latest offering, Supercrooks, tells the story of Johnny Bolt, a super-villain who puts together a heist in Spain with his villainous friends. Their target? The Bastard – the world’s most notorious super-villain. This hardback edition from Titan Books collects Supercrooks #1-4.

BOOK REVIEW – Lenore: Swirlies by Roman Dirge (Graphic Novel)

Lenore, The Cute Little Dead Girl is a series of dark comedy comics created by Roman Dirge. Lenore Volume 1 consisted of Noogies (Issues 1-4), Wedgies (Issues 5-8) and Cooties (Issues 9-12), all published by Titan Books in the UK. Lenore Volume 2 begins with Lenore: Swirlies, a new collection of the creepy and hilarious comic strip, which was released in August 2012 – just in time to celebrate Lenore’s 20th Anniversary!
