Pinocchio: Vampire Slayer is a 2009 graphic novel by Dusty Higgins and Van Jensen. A horror-themed follow-up to the original story by Carlo Collodi (where Pinocchio stays a puppet at the end rather than transforming into a real boy), this is an inventive – and often comedic – take on the iconic character, drawn in a highly stylised black-and-white manner. It was named among the Top Ten Graphic Novels for Teens by YALSA in 2010 and the first printing sold out within a few months.

Gemini Rue is a science fiction adventure game created by independent developer Joshua Nuernberger. Three years in the making, the game was recognised at the 2010 Independent Games Festival as their Student Showcase winner. Set within a bleak vision of the future dominated by a crime syndicate known only as the Boryokudan, players take control of Azriel Odin, an ex-assassin with a shady past, and Delta-Six aka Charlie, a prisoner in a secret facility who has had his memory wiped clean. Gemini Rue was released today (24th February 2011) via digital download and can also be purchased on Limited Edition CD until the 27th February 2011.

However, I also speculated that many players would be “hoping for a greater challenge across the board in future episodes”. Therefore, I approached Get Tannen! safe in the knowledge that the overall experience would be fan-pleasingly authentic, but also hoping deep down that the gameplay would be far more substantial this time around…
