The Walking Dead: A New Day is the first episode in a five part episodic video game based upon Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead series of comic books. Developed by Telltale Games, the player takes control of recently convicted felon Lee Everett as he fights to survive the zombie apocalypse whilst protecting a little girl named Clementine.

The Company of the Dead is an award-winning alternate history thriller written by Australian author David J. Kowalski that was recently published by Titan Books in the UK. A medical practitioner by trade, Kowalski had previously been published in medical journals but this bold novel, originally published in 2007, marked his fiction writing debut. Set against the backdrop of the sinking of the Titanic – a tragic event that occurred exactly one hundred years ago to the day of this review being published – Kowalski asks the reader to consider a world where the United States never entered World War One. A world where there is no United States of America and samurai patrol the streets of New York City with machine pistols hung over their shoulders…

In 2011, Alternative Magazine Online interviewed legendary adventure game designer Jane Jensen about her latest game Gray Matter, which we described in our review as being “destined to become an adventure gaming classic.” In 2012, Jane announced the formation of Pinkerton Road, a new independent studio devoted to developing adventure games with “deep and compelling storylines.” The studio will be partly funded via Kickstarter – you can help them reach their $300,000 funding goal by clicking here. Resonance is an upcoming indie point-and-click PC adventure game from XII Games in collaboration with Wadjet Eye Games. Featuring four playable characters, the game is based around the mysterious death of a particle physicist and his hidden vault. Each character becomes involved for their own different reasons and all must be controlled, both separately and working together as a team, to uncover a potentially deadly new technology.
