In 2011, Alternative Magazine Online interviewed legendary adventure game designer Jane Jensen about her latest game Gray Matter, which we described in our review as being “destined to become an adventure gaming classic.” In 2012, Jane announced the formation of Pinkerton Road, a new independent studio devoted to developing adventure games with “deep and compelling storylines.” The studio will be partly funded via Kickstarter – you can help them reach their $300,000 funding goal by clicking here. Hardcoregaming101.net Presents: The Guide to Classic Graphic Adventures is ‘an ode to one of the oldest genres in electronic gaming’ – aka adventure games – compiled and edited by Kurt Kalata. It is 772 pages in length and covers over 300 games, focusing on such prominent publishers as LucasArts and Sierra On-Line, as well as several other popular and not-so-popular series and games. It also includes a number of interviews with classic game developers such as Al Lowe (creator of Leisure Suit Larry) and Corey Cole (creator of Quest for Glory).

Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror is a point-and-click adventure game that was originally released on PC in 1997 by Revolution Software. Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror – Remastered takes the original game and updates it to run on new operating systems, as well as adding character portraits drawn by legendary English comic book artist Dave Gibbons.

Hector: Episode 3 – Beyond Reasonable Doom is a point-and-click adventure game created by Straandlooper Animation, published by Telltale Games. Only a few months after Episode 2: Senseless Acts Of Justice was released – described in AMO’s review as being “just as crude, rude and hilarious as ever” – Episode 3 begins with Hector and his trusty sidekick Lambert stuck in a septic tank rapidly filling with liquid poo! Just another day in the Clappers Wreake Police Department…
