One of the creepiest games I think I’ve ever (and will ever) play, Lylian: Episode One – Paranoid Friendship sees players take charge of a young girl locked up in an insane asylum, who finds herself free of her restraints one night and wandering around the hospital. Of course it’s not that cut and dry – the titular character Lylian soon discovers that the hospital may be harbouring a labyrinth of underground factories. Then again, it’s heavily hinted that it’s all just in her mind…

INTERVIEW – In Conversation With Merle Dandridge (Actress, Half Life 2)

Half Life 2 completely blew me away when it was released in 2004. Not only did the game totally deliver on its promises, it managed to succeed where many other shooters up until that point had arguably failed, featuring quality characterisation and genuine relationships with non-player characters. Case in point: Alyx Vance, a female sidekick that, although attractive, didn’t need to wear a low-cut top for millions of fans to fall in love with her. Voiced to perfection by Merle Dandridge, Alyx was a breath of fresh air in a genre that was fast becoming stale. With Episode 3’s release date still unknown, AMO was delighted when Miss Dandridge agreed to join us to discuss this iconic character and all things Half Life in an exclusive interview…

INTERVIEW – In Conversation With Robert Holmes (Composer, Gray Matter Soundtrack/Gabriel Knight Series)

Robert Holmes is an American composer best known for his work at Sierra Online, where he composed the music for the Gabriel Knight series of adventure games created by Jane Jensen (his wife) throughout the 90’s. Most recently, he contributed to the soundtrack of Jensen’s long-awaited adventure game Gray Matter, both as composer of the general score and as a musician with his band The Scarlet Furies. It therefore goes without saying that AMO is delighted to present an exclusive interview with Robert where we discuss this project, the Gabriel Knight series and more!
