Max Payne 3 is the third instalment in the Max Payne video game franchise, with development duties this time being undertaken by Rockstar Vancouver in collaboration with Rockstar New England, Rockstar London and Rockstar Toronto. Its release marks the first Max Payne game not created by Finnish game developer Remedy Entertainment of Alan Wake fame and not written by series creator Sam Lake. Max returns in 2012 with a major booze and painkiller addiction as he takes a job as a private security guard for the wealthy Branco family in São Paulo.

Driven is an American crime novel written by James Sallis. It is the sequel to his 2005 novel Drive, which was recently made into a critically acclaimed major motion picture starring Ryan Gosling. Shifting location from L.A. to Phoenix, the story picks up seven years after Driver finished his revenge spree against those who double-crossed him. Now calling himself Paul West and running a successful business, he is suddenly drawn back into the life of violence he thought he had left behind when his fiancée is brutally murdered on a hot Saturday morning.

GAME REVIEW – Alice: Madness Returns (Xbox 360)

Alice: Madness Returns is the sequel to 2000’s American McGee’s Alice, developed by Spicy Horse for a variety of formats. The plot sees Alice attempt to defend Wonderland from a new threat whilst also facing her own very real trials – battling madness, unearthing a dark conspiracy and discovering the root of the Liddell family’s misfortune.

FILM REVIEW – The Raid

The Raid is an Indonesian action film written and directed by Welsh film director Gareth Evans. Originally released in 2011 and now finding a worldwide release in 2012, the film stars Indonesian martial arts actor Iko Uwais, who was discovered by Evans whilst shooting a documentary about the martial art Pencak Silat in 2007. Uwais stars as rookie cop Rama, part of a 20-man SWAT team tasked with raiding a 30-floor derelict apartment building that has long served as a safe house for the city’s killers, gangsters and murderers, all overseen by the fearsome crime lord Tama Riyadi.
