GAME REVIEW – Max Payne 3 (PlayStation 3)

Max Payne 3 is the third instalment in the Max Payne video game franchise, with development duties this time being undertaken by Rockstar Vancouver in collaboration with Rockstar New England, Rockstar London and Rockstar Toronto. Its release marks the first Max Payne game not created by Finnish game developer Remedy Entertainment of Alan Wake fame and not written by series creator Sam Lake. Max returns in 2012 with a major booze and painkiller addiction as he takes a job as a private security guard for the wealthy Branco family in São Paulo.

GAME REVIEW – Alice: Madness Returns (Xbox 360)

Alice: Madness Returns is the sequel to 2000’s American McGee’s Alice, developed by Spicy Horse for a variety of formats. The plot sees Alice attempt to defend Wonderland from a new threat whilst also facing her own very real trials – battling madness, unearthing a dark conspiracy and discovering the root of the Liddell family’s misfortune.

GAME REVIEW – The Journey Down: Chapter One – HD (PC)

In 2011, Alternative Magazine Online reviewed a freeware indie point-and-click adventure game called The Journey Down: Over The Edge, describing it as “one of the most essential adventure gaming experiences of the past few years.” AMO then went on to exclusively interview the game’s soundtrack composer Simon D’souza, as well as the game’s creator Theodor Waern. In the latter interview, Theodor revealed his plans to create “a commercial, high res version” of the game. The Journey Down: Chapter One – HD is now finally with us in 2012 and AMO can confirm that is has been worth the wait. This is everything an indie adventure game should be.

INTERVIEW – In Conversation With Dave Fennoy (Lee Everett, The Walking Dead: The Game)

Alternative Magazine Online recently reviewed The Walking Dead – Episode 1: A New Day (PC), describing it as “Telltale Game’s most accomplished project yet.” Of particular note was the voice acting, which AMO described as “stellar, with Lee and Clementine in particular sounding 100% authentic and real. Whether Lee is threatening to kick somebody’s ass or comforting Clementine, he always sound great and it’s a constant joy to hear him interact with the 8-year-old girl in his care.” It is therefore with great pleasure that AMO presents an exclusive online interview with the voice of Lee Everett, Dave Fennoy aka ‘The Hulu Guy’!
