The God Of War 3 demo hits the UK PSN today, so I thought it would be a good idea to let Alternative Magazine Online’s readers know my thoughts so far! Please bare in mind that this is a preview of the demo shown at E3 2009. Therefore, it is an earlier build and there could very well be some changes/improvements by the time the game goes on sale next month.

FILM REVIEW – The Princess And The Frog

The Princess And The Frog is Disney’s 49th feature film and their first traditional 2D animation since 2004’s Home On The Range. Loosely based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale ‘The Frog Prince’, Disney seems keen to shake things up from the usual formula they have stuck to in the past. Case in point: this is the first Disney film to feature an African-American princess. Taking my seat in the cinema, my main hope was that this bold simultaneous return/departure from Disney tradition would amount to more than a mere gimmick.

FILM REVIEW – Ponyo (Studio Ghibli)

As a huge Studio Ghibli fan, it has been driving me somewhat mad knowing that Hayao Miyazaki’s latest animated feature film originally came out in July 2008 in Japan and was then released with an English dub in August 2009, but only in the US. It has only just arrived in the UK in February 2010! Frustrating to say the least. So was it worth the wait?

INTERVIEW – In Conversation With Dan Wells (Author of I Am Not A Serial Killer & Mr Monster)

I recently reviewed a fantastic book by Dan Wells called I Am Not A Serial Killer. His debut novel, I found the whole thing a wonderfully dark and thrilling look at serial killers, from the surprisingly effective viewpoint of a 15 year old sociopathic boy!

The novel gives the relatively stale monster/horror genres a much-needed injection of originality as well, which of course makes me very excited to read the sequel, which is due out early next month (entitled Mr Monster). Therefore, I am proud to present a recent chat between myself and Dan Wells, self-admitted armchair killerologist…
