GAME REVIEW – Transformers: War For Cybertron (PlayStation 3)

Now that the release date has finally been broken on this title, I can sit back, enjoy a good online rumble and bring the experience to all of AMO’s readers. As someone who has followed the different storylines, universes and timelines of the Transformers since childhood I was pretty intrigued to see what developers High Moon Studios had come up with. Featuring a new take on the original cartoon incarnation, Peter Cullin reprises his role as noble leader Optimus Prime in an effort to save his planet from the threat of Megatron’s rule.

GAME PREVIEW – Transformers: War For Cybertron (All Platforms)

If there’s a franchise that’s been retold over and over again it’s the story of the Transformers. In their 25 year lifespan they’ve had stories of beast wars and machine battles on Earth and in space. One series may have heroic leader Optimus Prime take the form of a semi-trailer fighting a planet-sized villain and in the next he’ll be a fire truck that combines with his tough-guy brother Ultra Magnus. He’s been a big gorilla that’s played King Kong with T-rex Megatron and won time and time again, and recently he’s returned to the silver screen to tear bad guys apart and draw attention away from Megan Fox’s lacklustre acting.

GAME REVIEW – Brutal Legend (Xbox 360)

If there are two things I love in this world (other than a good cup of tea and jammy dodgers), it would be video games and rock music. Throw the two together, put Tim Schafer in the rhythm section, Jack Black as your front man and a whole host of metal legends as your backing band and what do you get? The metal opus that is Brutal Legend, that’s what! But the question is… does it rock?

2010 Fifa World Cup is the latest inevitable cash cow of EA’s now excellent football series. Perhaps slightly unfair to label it a cash cow, it is difficult to recommend nonetheless, despite it being the best incarnation of the beautiful game. And when I say beautiful, that isn’t with Carlos Tevez in mind…
