Set at an unspecified point in the near future, the player controls two doctors – Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts – whose job it is to traverse through the memories of dying clients and fulfil their final requests. Their latest assignment: rewrite the memory of an elderly man named Johnny before he draws his final breath. His last wish: to go to the moon…

GAME REVIEW – Sanitarium (1998, PC)

Originally released in 1998, Sanitarium is a PC adventure game created by Dreamforge and more recently re-released and made playable on modern machines by GOG.com. Despite receiving a mixed reaction from adventure outlets back in the day, it is still often cited by fans of the genre as a classic for its twisted and unsettling atmosphere. As a fan of psychological horror and thrillers across all forms of media, I was understandably excited when given the chance to belatedly discover what all the fuss was about. With the credits now behind me, I’m unfortunately no nearer to finding out.

GAME REVIEW – Duke Nukem Forever (PC)

Duke Nukem Forever is a first-person shooter originally developed by 3D Realms and Triptych Games, before being completed by Gearbox Software and Piranha Games. Development began in 1996 after the release of Duke Nukem 3D – over the intervening years Duke Nukem Forever has been shown in various different forms – but the game didn’t see its final release until June 2011. Fifteen turbulent years in the making, was it even possible that Duke Nukem Forever could live up to all the hype?

Hector: Episode 3 – Beyond Reasonable Doom is a point-and-click adventure game created by Straandlooper Animation, published by Telltale Games. Only a few months after Episode 2: Senseless Acts Of Justice was released – described in AMO’s review as being “just as crude, rude and hilarious as ever” – Episode 3 begins with Hector and his trusty sidekick Lambert stuck in a septic tank rapidly filling with liquid poo! Just another day in the Clappers Wreake Police Department…
