GAME REVIEW – WET (Xbox 360)

By Stewie Sutherland

WET Cover

It was a dark, scary night… you know the kind. Most of the lights are off in the house. Somewhere outside, a noisy owl is hooting. Trees close by are shaking in the wind and scratching at the windows. Everything had been played, and played to death, so yours truly thought “I’ll see what’s available to download for free.” As you can expect, not a lot. Exhausting the XBL marketplace, I checked out the PSN store and saw it in a lonely folder, an underdog if you will: WET – The Demo.

GAME REVIEW – Puzzle Bots

By Marty Mulrooney

Puzzlebots 2010-05-12 21-38-20-72

Puzzle Bots is the latest point ‘n’ click game from Wadjet Eye Games, a company I previously came across during my time reviewing the classic Blackwell trilogy of games for Hardydev.com last year. I therefore decided to put myself forward as a beta tester for the studio’s new game Puzzle Bots last month. As soon as I started playing, I was blown away; gameplay and graphics were delightful even in those early beta stages. I knew I would have to review the final build on AMO when it released, which brings me to my review. Puzzle Bots rocks!

BOOK REVIEW – Mr Monster by Dan Wells

By Marty Mulrooney

MrMonsterCover

Earlier this year I reviewed the amazing debut novel I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells. Aimed at young adults, it genuinely surprised me how gripping the book proved to be for an older reader such as myself, written as it was from the perspective of a 15 year old sociopathic serial killer hunter. It is one of the best books I have read in a long time, so if you haven’t purchased it already, I recommend you stop reading this review and do so. Because the sequel, Mr Monster, is even better. You won’t want to miss this!

GAME PREVIEW – Halo Reach Multiplayer Beta (Xbox 360)

Recently I heard them saying that Halo: ODST was walking out the door. Why? Because a rush of people wanted to play the new Multiplayer Beta of the upcoming game Halo Reach, and the lesser-liked Halo 3 prequel was needed to run it. Fun because it’s true.  Back in its hey-day, more than a million people played Halo 3 online within 24 hours of its release. These days, it’s earned the new moniker of Galo (not pronounced Gah-lo either). As a first person shooter, it has fallen from its former glory.
