The Devils Only Friend by Dan Wells

The Devil’s Only Friend by Dan Wells is the latest novel in the John Wayne Cleaver series of books. Although it follows on from the previous critically acclaimed young adult trilogy – I Am Not A Serial Killer, Mr Monster, I Don’t Want To Kill You which Alternative Magazine Online described as “a scary, darkly humorous and surprisingly heart-wrenching experience”, this latest instalment is a standalone novel (and the start of a brand new trilogy) that follows John as he reluctantly joins up with a secret FBI task force set up by the US government. Their mission? To hunt down and kill demons.

BOOK REVIEW – Mr Monster by Dan Wells

By Marty Mulrooney

MrMonsterCover

Earlier this year I reviewed the amazing debut novel I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells. Aimed at young adults, it genuinely surprised me how gripping the book proved to be for an older reader such as myself, written as it was from the perspective of a 15 year old sociopathic serial killer hunter. It is one of the best books I have read in a long time, so if you haven’t purchased it already, I recommend you stop reading this review and do so. Because the sequel, Mr Monster, is even better. You won’t want to miss this!

By Marty Mulrooney

I recently reviewed a fantastic book by Dan Wells called I Am Not A Serial Killer. His debut novel, I found the whole thing a wonderfully dark and thrilling look at serial killers, from the surprisingly effective viewpoint of a 15 year old sociopathic boy!

The novel gives the relatively stale monster/horror genres a much-needed injection of originality as well, which of course makes me very excited to read the sequel, which is due out early next month (entitled Mr Monster). Therefore, I am proud to present a recent chat between myself and Dan Wells, self-admitted armchair killerologist…
