INTERVIEW – In Conversation With Guy “Yug” Blomberg, Co-creator / Founder of Mana Bar

There’s nothing better than going to your favourite club, is there? The atmosphere is golden, the patrons are familiar and when it’s your friend’s shout you can just tell them “the usual” and know what you’ll be getting. Now imagine if you could have the same thing, only with Xbox 360’s and Nintendo Wii’s replacing the usual spirits and ales. Sounds good, doesn’t it? It was this slick, outside-the-box idea that created Mana Bar, soon to be Australia’s first video game bar set in the city of Brisbane, the Sunshine State.  Despite being hard at work getting everything ready for it’s opening, Mana Bar’s Guy “Yug” Blomberg kindly granted AMO an interview to talk about this awesome new concept…

GAME REVIEW – Chime (Xbox Live Arcade)

I did a nice thing today. I purchased a great little game and donated to charity by doing so.  Chime by Zoë Mode is a production for OneBigGame, an industry wide charity initiative, and over 60% of the purchase price (a meagre 400 MS points which equates to less than a fiver) is donated to OneBigGame’s charity partners Save the Children and Starlight Children’s foundation. And it’s bloomin’ lovely too.

FILM REVIEW – Halo Legends, Part 1

What do the Monopoly guy, Tears For Fears and Bungie have in common? They all want to rule the world of course, and Bungie is getting closer all the time. What started as a system release game, Halo has grown into one of the biggest franchises of our time. It is also bringing video games into every medium it can. You can now buy Halo toys and games, Halo novels, comics, and you can even wear Halo clothes while playing O.D.S.T. and waiting for the new Halo Reach to hit shelves. It therefore wasn’t very surprising to hear that there was going to be a series of anime/CGI films based on the franchise (the only surprise was that it took them this long!)

GAME REVIEW – Night at the Museum 2 (Wii, 2009)

Every so often I’ll see something that I’ll pick up on a whim. Maybe it’ll look interesting, usually for a giggle and often because I can’t believe they went ahead and made it. And just sometimes, if the price is right (in this case, $50 that I thought “what the hell, why not?”) I’ll take it home and give it a look over. This was the start of my mildly-amusing (but very short) experience with Majesco’s latest title.
