FILM REVIEW – Gangster Squad

Gangster Squad is a period crime action film directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland). Loosely based upon a true story, the film follows an elite unit of LAPD officers and detectives known as the ‘Gangster Squad’, whose sole mission it is to drive the gangster known as Mickey Cohen out of Los Angeles. The ensemble cast features Sean Penn as Cohen, with Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Robert Patrick, Michael Peña, Anthony Mackie and Giovanni Ribisi starring as the cops determined to take him down.

Dead Space: Catalyst by B.K. Evenson is a science fiction horror novel set within the Dead Space video game universe. Serving as a sequel to 2010’s Dead Space: Martyr (also written by Evenson), Dead Space: Catalyst is set 250 years in the future and centres around two brothers named Istvan and Jensi.

Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller – Episode 2: The Wise Monkey (PC) is the second instalment in the Erica Reed series of episodic point-and-click adventure games created by Phoenix Online Studios. Following on directly from Episode 1 (which Alternative Magazine Online described as “a good old-fashioned adventure game like they used to make”), the game once again puts the player in control of Boston-based FBI agent Erica Reed. In Episode 2 she must face her most dangerous adversary yet – The Wise Monkey, a serial killer whose calling card involves removing the eyes, ears and tongues of her victims.
