Here at Alternative Magazine Online we love computer games with a passion. Yet I recently realised that this was portrayed to our readers from a thoroughly male perspective. I decided an alternative viewpoint, from a female gamer no less, would be very appropriate. BOOK REVIEW – Studio Ghibli (Kamera Books) by Colin Odell & Michelle Le Blanc

Western fans of the animation masters at Studio Ghibli will no doubt agree that, somewhat disappointingly, information about the studio is often severely lacking beyond the special features available to us on DVD. I was therefore highly intrigued when I noticed that Kamera Books were about to release Studio Ghbili: The Films of Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata. But would this finally be the book to accurately detail Ghibli’s history down on paper for English-speaking fans, or merely become a rehash of what we already know?

STAGE REVIEW – The Woman In Black, The Lowry Theatre, 22/01/2010

Ever since a recent trip to Edinburgh, a city steeped in rich paranormal legend, I have had a newfound interest in ghost stories. I had also heard that The Woman In Black was one of the best (and scariest) ghost stories to be performed live on stage, so I was pretty excited to be heading to the theatre to see it on a cold Friday evening, the night after my birthday no less.
