The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final instalment of director Christopher Nolan’s epic Batman film trilogy, following on from Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008). Christian Bale once again reprises his role as Batman, this time opposite Tom Hardy as the villain Bane, a terrorist hell-bent on destroying Gotham City. Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman also return, alongside newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anne Hathaway.

GAME REVIEW – Limbo: Special Edition (PC)

By Marty Mulrooney

Alternative Magazine Online reviewed the PlayStation Network version of Limbo (a downloadable puzzle-platform video game created by independent Danish game developer Playdead) last year, describing it as “an unforgettable, game-changing experience.” Originally released as a platform exclusive title on Xbox Live Arcade in 2010, Limbo was ported to the PlayStation Network and Microsoft Windows via Steam in 2011. It’s now 2012 and this phenomenal game is seeing yet another release – this time as a retail special edition that includes DRM-free PC and Mac versions, a free Steam gift key, a standalone soundtrack by Martin Stig Andersen, seven original art cards, a boy sticker and 3D glasses.

GAME REVIEW – I Am Alive (PSN)

By Marty Mulrooney

I Am Alive PSN

I Am Alive is a downloadable third-person survival adventure game developed for Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network by Ubisoft Shanghai. Originally developed by Darkworks between 2008 and 2010, Ubisoft Shanghai eventually stepped in to complete production, releasing the game in 2012. Taking place in the fictional American city of Haventon one year after a major disaster simply referred to as ‘The Event’ – a series of earthquakes that levelled buildings and covered the land in poisonous dust clouds – players take control of an unnamed male survivor as he fights to reunite with his wife and daughter.
