Hey guys! Today, we hit a milestone with our 17,000th visitor! I am amazed how Alternative Magazine Online has grown, from what was basically a small blog, into a fully functioning site. We also recently took on another writer, bringing the count to four including myself. Welcome to the site Stewart Sutherland!
What does this mean for you, the reader? Well we have a wider range of topics we can write about. All the major games consoles are now covered, as shown recently by our Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 coverage, as well as our continuing PC coverage of course. It also means our other coverage (e.g film and book reviews) can come from more than a single voice, providing even more alternative views… which is what the site is all about!
Also, due to some bad times with my own computer dying recently, I have now upgraded to a brand new machine, and will be installing Windows 7 later this week. Again, this means the site can move with the times in many exciting new ways.
In the coming weeks there will be a staff page with biographies added so you can get to know the writers a bit better, a rehaul of the ratings system (as well as a rating explanation page) and also a page to apply if you want to write for us!
Finally, and as you will notice when reading this, the site theme has been changed to something more streamlined. This was done to hopefully make navigating the site easier, as well as providing a more enjoyable reading experience.
The banner is a placeholder at the moment, as I am working on something a little more special. I will hopefully also be creating a logo as soon as possible. In the meantime, why not vote on the poll below to let us know what you think of our new look? Further feedback in the comments section is very much appreciated, and will be counted as entries in the competition I mentioned on our earlier page here!
Thanks,
Marty Mulrooney
I like it. Has that serious, professional magazine feel to it.
You lost one of the columns though.
A small price to pay it seems… since changing the layout last night, the amount of vistors has quadrupled! Just got in from work, amazed!
Like the new look site. Easier to read and to navigate around!
Looks nice, but maybe you should reduce the “Fl!p” sign area a bit.
Thanks for the feedback! I think the header looks big at the moment because it just one basic block of colour… once it has been designed properly I am sure it will not be as intrusive!
Definately a slicker, more profesional look Marty. It really goes a long way to grabbing attention! By the by, cheers for the kind words: they also go a long way to making a person feel welcomed 🙂
Thank you for the feedback Stewie, and no worries about the kind words… feedback on your first article has been great from everyone I have spoken to, and I am already excited about working with you again in the future!
Hey! Really like the new look Marty, everything looks a lot cleaner. It even got a reassuring nod from The Missus, so it must be good, and welcome to the team Stewart 🙂
Thanks Duncan! Glad you like the new look 😀
Really like the new look of the site – feels very clean and professional!
Loving the new writers too – keep up the good work! 😀
