FILM REVIEW – Four Lions

You can always rely on Chris Morris to raise a few eyebrows. The man who made his name lampooning paedophilia, drugs, sex, crime and the modern media’s insane perception of the world around us has now cast his eye over the explosive subject of Islamic fundamentalism. To the average person on the street this means Al-Qaeda, terrorism, suicide bombings and a fear and suspicion of the Muslim world. To Morris it presents a perfect opening to do what he does best; make everybody involved look as stupid as each other.

ALTERNATIVE MUSINGS – Is Heavy Rain Doing Video Games Proud?

I was recently disappointed to realise that several media outlets/gamers are already finding fault with Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain on PS3 before it has even been released, mostly due to the parallels it draws with cinema. Of course, this is a result of the unbelievable hype surrounding the game. But rather than doing gaming a disservice, I actually think from what I have seen so far that it is doing video games rather proud…

FILM REVIEW – Terminator Salvation

After seeing Terminator Salvation last night, I was somewhat lost for words (unusual for me I can assure you.) The state I was in as I drove home was made up of both positives and negatives, all of which raced through my mind in some kind of self-loathing, fan-boyish frenzy.  As a long time fan of the Terminator franchise (not including the extremely disappointing T3), I had high hopes for the latest installment, against my better judgement.
