FILM NEWS: Ridley Scott To Direct New Blade Runner Film

Ridley Scott is set to helm a follow-up to his cult classic science fiction film Blade Runner for Warner Brothers-based financing and production company Alcon Entertainment. Alcon recently made headlines when they announced that they had the exclusive rights to produce Blade Runner theatrical sequels and prequels, in addition to television and interactive productions based on the film. Fans will no doubt breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Ridley Scott is now fully on board. No news yet on whether this will be a sequel or prequel, or if any of the original cast will be returning. FILM REVIEW – Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a science fiction film directed by Rupert Wyatt starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow and Andy Serkis. It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes franchise, acting as an origin story for a brand new film series. Will Rodman (Franco) is a scientist trying to develop a cure for Alzheimer’s disease by testing a new man-made virus on chimpanzees. When a female chimpanzee goes on the rampage and is killed, Rodman takes her baby home, naming him Caesar (performed via motion capture by Serkis). Caesar shows remarkable intelligence as he grows older, but this unnatural leap in evolution will come at a terrible cost…

FILM REVIEW – Bad Teacher

Cameron Diaz returns to the big screen in Bad Teacher, where she takes on the role of a foul-mouthed junior high teacher in a screenplay penned by Gene Stupinsky and Lee Eisenberg (Year One). The film sees Diaz share the screen with former beau Justin Timberlake, last seen in The Social Network, and Jason Segel of I Love You, Man fame.
