GAME REVIEW – Dead Rising 2 (PC)

Dead Rising 2 is the long-awaited follow-up to the 2006 Xbox 360 exclusive Dead Rising, once again pitting players against flesh-eating hordes of zombies with whatever make-shift weapons may come to hand. The sequel requires no knowledge of the previous game and is an entirely standalone experience. Exclusivity seemingly forgotten, Dead Rising 2 was recently released on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC port soon followed, which is the version being reviewed here on AMO today. Happy Halloween 2010!

Earlier this year, AMO reviewed Cathy Brett’s illustrated teen novel Ember Fury, describing it as “an enjoyable, wonderfully illustrated light read.” We weren’t the only ones impressed either: Ember Fury was recently shortlisted for The Young Minds Book Award. Her latest novel, a darkly comic horror story about a teenage ghost called Scarlett Dedd, was released in September 2010. AMO recently caught up with Cathy to have a chat about both books and her plans for Halloween…

BOOK REVIEW – Dracula’s Heir (An Interactive Mystery)

Dracula’s Heir is an interactive mystery book written by Sam Stall and illustrated by Roland Sarkany. In a similar vein to Batman: Murder At Wayne Manor (reviewed here), readers of Dracula’s Heir must study interactive clues – such as the original first chapter of Bram Stoker’s Dracula – to discover who is responsible for a series of grisly murders and uncloak the new nosferatu… perfect reading for Halloween!
