Essential Killing is an award-winning political action thriller helmed by Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski. It stars Vincent Gallo as Mohammed, a man captured by the US military in Afghanistan after killing three Americans, before being sent to a secret detention centre in Europe. When the truck he is being transported in crashes and rolls over, he escapes into an icy, snowy wilderness, far removed from the desert home he once knew. Hunted down by US army forces, Mohammed must do whatever it takes to survive against the odds…

FILM REVIEW – Arrietty

Arrietty is a Japanese animated film created by Studio Ghibli, based upon the 1952 novel The Borrowers by English author Mary Norton. It tells the story of Arrietty, a tiny little girl who lives with her mother and father beneath the floorboards of a house in western Tokyo. The film was released on the 17th July 2010 in Japan and was finally released in the UK on the 29th July 2011.

FILM REVIEW – Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a science fiction film directed by Rupert Wyatt starring James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow and Andy Serkis. It is a reboot of the Planet of the Apes franchise, acting as an origin story for a brand new film series. Will Rodman (Franco) is a scientist trying to develop a cure for Alzheimer’s disease by testing a new man-made virus on chimpanzees. When a female chimpanzee goes on the rampage and is killed, Rodman takes her baby home, naming him Caesar (performed via motion capture by Serkis). Caesar shows remarkable intelligence as he grows older, but this unnatural leap in evolution will come at a terrible cost…
