FILM REVIEW – Drive

Drive is a film directed by Nicolas Winding Refn starring Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Ron Perlman, Bryan Cranston, Christina Hendricks and Albert Brooks. Driver (Ryan Gosling) is a Hollywood stunt driver by day, getaway driver by night. He is the best in the business. Both businesses. When he moves into his new L.A. apartment, he befriends neighbour Irene (Carey Mulligan) and her son Benicio (Kaden Leos). He drives them everywhere and often watches Benicio while Irene works. The quiet, reclusive Driver seems happy. Then Irene’s husband, Standard (Oscar Isssac), is released from jail…

BOOK REVIEW – Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick

Midwinterblood is the latest novel from award-winning children’s author Marcus Sedgwick and is published by Indigo, an imprint of Orion. Sedgwick’s White Crow was my favourite book of 2010, described in AMO’s review as “a scary, heart-warming, intelligent book.” It was therefore with great anticipation that I began reading Midwinterblood, a breathtaking love story that spans across centuries and genres. Ultimately, Midwinterblood poses the question: What would you sacrifice for someone you’ve loved for ever?

GAME REVIEW – Super Meat Boy – Ultra Rare Edition (PC)

Super Meat Boy is an award-winning indie platform game developed by Team Meat (Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes). It was released on the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade in October 2010, and on PC in November 2010. In August 2011, publisher Lace Mamba Global released two retail versions of the game: the Ultra Edition (which includes a digital soundtrack, a 40 page comic/sketch book, a double-sided poster and secret bonus content) and the Ultra Rare Edition (which includes everything present in the Ultra Edition as well as an additional T-shirt!)
