GAME REVIEW – Duke Nukem Forever (PC)

Duke Nukem Forever is a first-person shooter originally developed by 3D Realms and Triptych Games, before being completed by Gearbox Software and Piranha Games. Development began in 1996 after the release of Duke Nukem 3D – over the intervening years Duke Nukem Forever has been shown in various different forms – but the game didn’t see its final release until June 2011. Fifteen turbulent years in the making, was it even possible that Duke Nukem Forever could live up to all the hype?

BOOK REVIEW – Drive by James Sallis

Drive is a 2005 novella by American crime writer James Sallis which was recently adapted into a major motion picture starring Ryan Gosling. Set in L.A, it tells the story of a man known only as ‘Driver’, who is a Hollywood stunt driver for movies by day and a getaway driver for criminals by night. In classic noir fashion he is double-crossed when a robbery goes horrifically wrong, setting in motion a series of events that will irrevocably lead him down a road of revenge and violence, forcing him to break his strictly enforced code. “I drive. That’s what I do. All I do.”

Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror – Remastered takes the original game and updates it to run on new operating systems, as well as adding character portraits drawn by legendary English comic book artist Dave Gibbons.
