FILM REVIEW – The Hunter

The Hunter is an Iranian film originally released in 2010, directed by internationally acclaimed director Rafi Pitts. Pitts also stars as main character Ali Avali, a man recently released from prison who is forced to work monotonous night shifts to support his wife and child. Suddenly, tragedy strikes when Ali’s family are involved in a police shootout. Pushed over the edge, Ali grabs his hunting rifle and positions himself above a busy city highway, taking aim at an approaching police car and sealing his fate forever… The Hunter was released on DVD  on the 28th February 2011 in the UK by Artificial Eye.

FILM REVIEW – Black Swan

In the months leading up to its release, the cinema world has been abuzz about Darren Aronofsky’s latest feature Black Swan. Set within the competitive world of a prestigious New York ballet company, this dark psychological thriller examines themes of mental illness, jealousy and duality. With 2008’s critically acclaimed The Wrestler under his belt, Aronofsky has yet again turned to a tale of physical dedication… but, does this film starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis live up to all the hype or is it just another standard psychological horror flick?

FILM REVIEW – The Tourist

The Tourist is a comedic thriller directed by German film director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others), starring Johnny Depp (Pirates Of The Carribean), Angelina Jolie (Tomb Raider) and Paul Bettany (The Da Vinci Code). It is a remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer.

We are, without a doubt, the Facebook generation. Nowadays it’s the norm to share almost every aspect of our lives in the name of social networking; the vast majority of us will have revealed a mountain of information about ourselves online. Earlier this year, The Social Network told the tale of how Facebook began. Now, documentary Catfish provides proof of the integral part social networking plays in shaping our perceptions of others, whether we’ve met them in person or not.
