Shot on a shoe-string budget of $114,000, the film grossed over $12 million domestically and $18 million internationally and remains a hit with audiences even today. Joe Kane – recognised as ‘the best movie critic in America’ by Entertainment Weekly – not only goes behind the scenes of this classic horror film, but also details the five-decade legacy that it has created. The book also includes the original Night Of The Living Dead screenplay by John Russo.

BOOK REVIEW – Floodland by Marcus Sedgwick

Floodland

Floodland is a children’s fantasy novel published by Orion Children’s Books in 2000. The debut novel of Marcus Sedgwick, it won the Branford Boase Award in 2001 for being an outstanding first published novel. Having recently reviewed Sedwick’s latest book White Crow, I decided it would be interesting to start at the beginning and see how Floodland holds up ten years later.

BOOK REVIEW – Dracula’s Heir (An Interactive Mystery)

Dracula’s Heir is an interactive mystery book written by Sam Stall and illustrated by Roland Sarkany. In a similar vein to Batman: Murder At Wayne Manor (reviewed here), readers of Dracula’s Heir must study interactive clues – such as the original first chapter of Bram Stoker’s Dracula – to discover who is responsible for a series of grisly murders and uncloak the new nosferatu… perfect reading for Halloween!

BOOK REVIEW – Harbor Moon by Ryan Colucci (Graphic Novel)

Harbor Moon is an original graphic novel written by Ryan Colucci (who also edited/produced the project) and Dikran Ornekian, in collaboration with Polish artist Paul Sambor and several other talented individuals. Published by Arcana Comics, this unique visual horror story is very much a team effort; there is a strong sense of collaboration conveyed from within every darkened, blood-splattered panel. Colucci’s Spoke Lane Entertainment have certainly excelled in taking a well-known genre and turning it on its head: Harbor Moon is refreshingly different, matching buckets of gore with equal amounts of deadly beauty.
