BOOK REVIEW – Joyland by Stephen King

Joyland is the new novel from the world’s best-selling author, Stephen King. The latest release in the highly successful and hugely popular ‘Hard Case Crime’ book series, Joyland tells the story of college student Devin Jones as he takes a part-time job at a small-town North Carolina amusement park during the summer of 1973. Trying to escape a broken heart, he instead discovers a crime – and ghost – mystery that will not only see him coming-of-age, but force him to take a ride with an evil that hides in broad daylight. Published through a collaboration between Winterfall LLC and Titan Publishing Group, Joyland is due to be released in the UK on the 7th June 2013.

Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots is a novelisation of the PlayStation 3 video game Metal Gear Solid 4 written by the late Japanese author Keikaku (Project) Itoh and translated into English by Nathan Collins. It tells the story of the legendary soldier Solid Snake as he battles both the deadly FOXDIE virus coursing through his veins that will soon turn him into a walking biological weapon, and his old enemy Liquid Ocelot, who is planning to hijack a worldwide nanotechnology network known as the Sons of the Patriots.

BOOK REVIEW – Dead Space: Liberation by Ian Edginton and Christopher Shy (Graphic Novel)

Dead Space: Liberation is a graphic novel written by Ian Edginton (Victorian Undead) with art by Christopher Shy (Soul Stealer). Recently published in the UK by Titan Books, this graphic novel serves as a prequel to the events of Dead Space 3 (both were released in February 2013). The story follows Earthgov Sergeant John Carver as he fights religious fanatics and terrifying ‘Necromorph’ monsters in a desperate bid for survival that will determine the fate of mankind.
