FEATURE ARTICLE – Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars – The Film Script

Over the past few weeks Alternative Magazine Online has been covering Revolution Software’s Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse Kickstarter campaign. I have been chatting every day since the Kickstarter was announced with my fellow Broken Sword fans and have been overwhelmed by not only the friendliness of the community that has evolved, but by each individual fan’s efforts to spread the word about Broken Sword 5. Revolution Software started something truly special when they announced Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse and the fans have made it even better. This film script – which was written with the permission of Revolution Software co-founder Tony Warriner – transfers the iconic opening of the original Broken Sword adventure game to the typed page. It is my way of saying thank you to all the staff at Revolution Software, my friend Rolf Saxon and all the new friends I have made via the Broken Sword 5 Kickstarter campaign. Paris in the fall…

Ecko Rising is a science fiction/fantasy epic and the debut novel of Danie Ware. It tells the story of Ecko, a cybernetically enhanced rebel/assassin who is recruited into a resistance group in a dystopian future where the population are controlled via mind-altering drugs. During a reconnaissance mission, Ecko takes a fatal plunge and ends up landing in a fantasy realm. But is this brave new world real or all just in Ecko’s head?

Tony Warriner is a video game designer and programmer who wrote his first game when he was still at school. In 1990 he co-founded Revolution Software with Charles Cecil, Noirin Carmody and David Sykes and together they went on to create some of the greatest adventure games of all time, including Beneath a Steel Sky (1994) and Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars (1996). Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse was recently announced and the support from fans has been overwhelming – Alternative Magazine Online is therefore proud to present an exclusive online interview with Mr Warriner, where we discuss Broken Sword 5 and the history of Revolution Software in depth.
