FILM REVIEW – White Material

White Material is a 2009 French film directed by Claire Denis, starring Isabelle Huppert and Christopher Lambert. It tells the story of Maria (Huppert), a white woman in an unnamed African country who is desperately struggling to claw back control over her failing coffee plantation, amidst rising levels of danger and violence.

GAME REVIEW – World Of Goo (PC)

World Of Goo is a physics-based puzzle game created by independent developer 2D Boy, which was founded by Kyle Gabler and Ron Carmel, both of whom are former Electronic Arts employees. World Of Goo has won many awards since its release in 2008, including Best Independent Game from the Spike TV Video Game Awards Show, Game Of The Year from IGN and Best Game No One Played from Gamespot.

BOOK REVIEW – Floodland by Marcus Sedgwick

Floodland

Floodland is a children’s fantasy novel published by Orion Children’s Books in 2000. The debut novel of Marcus Sedgwick, it won the Branford Boase Award in 2001 for being an outstanding first published novel. Having recently reviewed Sedwick’s latest book White Crow, I decided it would be interesting to start at the beginning and see how Floodland holds up ten years later.

GAME REVIEW – God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta (PSP)

Ghost Of Sparta is the sixth instalment in the critically lauded God Of War series and the third chapter chronologically. It is also the second God Of War game to appear on PSP, again created by Ready At Dawn but this time in collaboration with the SCE Santa Monica Studio, who of course created the stunning God Of War III on PlayStation 3 earlier this year.
