Batman: Arkham City is the much anticipated follow-up to the 2009 surprise hit video game Batman: Arkham Asylum, once again brought to you by British developer Rocksteady Studios. At the beginning of the game Bruce Wayne (aka Batman) is captured and imprisoned in the titular Arkham City, a sprawling super-prison five times larger than Arkham Asylum, which is being overseen by genius psychiatrist Hugo Strange. Meanwhile, the Joker is facing almost certain death due to his recent consumption of the Titan formula, its unstable properties mutating his blood and slowly killing him…

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is the latest instalment in the Uncharted series of video games created by Naughty Dog for PlayStation 3. The plot revolves around the ‘Iram of the Pillars’, an ancient city lost in the Rub’ al Khali desert. The complex relationship between Nathan Drake and his mentor Victor Sullivan is further explored as they battle the mysterious Katherine Marlowe and her right-hand man, Talbot. *Warning: due to the story-heavy nature of Uncharted 3, there are minor spoilers present throughout this review.*

GAME REVIEW – Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Before I review what is surely the biggest release of the month (if not the year), I must first set the scene. Although the PC is where I started as a gamer, it was the Playstation where I ultimately ended up, at least 90% of the time anyway. I have never strayed to other consoles (although I did dabble with the GameCube somewhat), and nowadays my Playstation 3 is a constant daily source of entertainment for me, echoing backwards through the gaming years of my PS2 and PS1 days.

Every single successful gaming console has risen or fallen based on not only the quality of the games on offer, but the level of brand recognition afforded by first party developers. Sega had Sonic, Nintendo had Mario, Microsoft had Master Chief. Playstation had several potential candidates, ranging from Crash Bandicoot to Solid Snake. Yet I would argue it was only with the PS3′s launch, and ‘the little game that could’ known as Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, that we finally got a mascot that screamed exclusivity, immense production values and genuine charm. Friday Release Day Faceoff – Uncharted 2: Among Thieves VS Brutal Legend

Many British PS3 gamers will face something of a dilemma this coming Friday (16th October 2009). This is because two major releases are occurring on the same day: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves by Naughty Dog and Brutal Legend by Double Fine Productions. So if you only have money for one game this Friday, which should it be?
